I believe Mr. Sloan was here to give us an inspection for termites. We have cathedral ceilings so the outside is easily 20 feet high. He didn't have a ladder, never went up anywhere, except his helper went into the attic above our 3rd bedroom closet. We got the report yesterday. Dry rot was found in the eaves 20 feet up that he could only eyeball.

The report also found termites in the eaves 20 feet up. The patio pergola he could reach and found dry rot. I'm cool with that. But there is no other signs of termites, droppings or trails and he wants $8000 worth of wood work plus tent the entire house for termites. Supposedly there were termite sightings in the garage. We are in Ventura County and masks are required during COVID-19.

This man did NOT Wear a mask and although I wore my mask and positioned myself 8 feet away, he repeatedly kept moving towards me and at times was within 6 feet. The office staff may be professional but this man, one of the Sloans was not.

Sloans is a joke! Called them out to do a termite inspection and the very first thing they did was measure for a tent! They found no evidence of termites that they could show me but said they were pretty sure there was termites! Unbelievable! DONT CALL SLOANS!

Haven't done business with them. Employees are awesome. Owner I have a personal problem with. Just because someone has a successful business and makes great money. It doesn't make you better than everyone else and it doesn't give you the right to call people degrading names behind there back or judge them when you know absolutely nothing about them. Mr. Sloan should keep his wrong, rude racist comments to other people about someone else to himself.

Thank you for your time. On a positive note his entire staff is polite down to earth. I'm done venting. Have a awesome day. In response to the response on this review by the owner. I find it extremely difficult to believe you don't know who I am. You are just trying to dismiss my review. I would love to tell you and everyone who informed me about what you had said but I promised I would not. What I said in my review is true. Maybe in the future you will keep your negative remarks about someone you don't know to yourself.

Mark did some termite wood and dry rot repair, during a home sale. Horrible work. Worst woodwork we have ever seen. Example: used non-fire rated door for exterior. Insisted it was for outdoor use. We sent him a photo, manufacture had stamped on the bottom of the door "non-fire rated, for indoor use only". Do you think they came back and fixed the problem? No way. Small example of all their slap-shot and shoddy work. They never stood by any of it. Screwed us out of thousands. Horrible company. Stay away!

Great service and they will find what other companies won't! Get your monies worth and call a local reputable terminate company that has been long standing in the community with a phenomenal following and reputation that is second to none!

They wanted to charge me extra to fumigate boards along the side of my garage that I was going to have cut off anyways, purposely pushed in damaged floor boards when there was obvious termite damage (which now has a bigger hole, thanks), and their contract is a joke. It says more of what they CANT do than what they can do. Avoid!

The good: tented and fumigated on time and on schedule The bad: Were supposed to "repair and replace" several areas of damaged wood. Apparently filling holes with painter's caulk is sufficient in their book. Shoddy, poor workmanship. Terrible follow through. Won't return realtor's calls. Always managed to come back to "take care of things" when no one is home. Will NEVER recommend. One star because Yelp won't let you give 0.

Kenny K. referred me to Mr. John Tango at Sloan's. He was punctual, thorough, polite and friendly. I was very impressed. In the course of his inspection, he noted that we might have termite damage (not what he was there for), and he suggested I call his (Sloan's) office to request a full termite inspection, which was thoughtful of him. I wish Yelp would allow me to post a second review regarding the termite inspection, so I could give Mr. Tango the 5 stars he earned.

But I think it's even more important to give Sloan's the one star they earned regarding the termite inspection. After a little phone tag, we made an appointment for 8am 1/2/17. No one showed up. No one called to explain they'd be late. No one answered my calls (or hadn't as of 10:30 to explain that: a) they had difficulties, or couldn't find my house, or spelled my street wrong, etc.; or, b) that they are actually closed today, and very carelessly made an appointment anyway, and never noticed their blunder.in any case, it doesn't really inspire confidence, when, apparently, all Sloan's can exterminate is my morning.

I called Sloan's for a possible rodent problem in the attic. John Tango arrived within 2 hours of my call which is outstanding. John was very professional and polite. He quickly assessed our house and provided us with valuable information. I look forward to doing business with Sloan's in the future for pest control. The company was referred to me by a friend and I can see why. They are very honest.

The technician, Joe, was knowledgeable and efficient. When a job before us took longer than expected, he called several times to give us an updated time of arrival. We are very pleased with his work and were pleasantly surprised at the price. We have several neighbors who used Sloan's with similar results. We recommend them without hesitation and would use them again if the need arises.

My name is Nancy Mitchell. These folks cost me approximately $12,000 when I sold my condo in Santa Paula. I ordered a termite INSPECTION. I did NOT give them permission to go into the INACESSIBLE AREAS.which they did. They tore off siding and made a mess. When I questioned the OWNER he said they HAD to rip off the siding to see what was underneath!

They were NOT hired to rip off anything.the city came by and saw the siding ripped off, then they decided the condo needed new cantilevered beams in the upper story because there was a tiny balcony that they said "might fall off." The elder Sloan retired and left the business to his son. The son obviously was in the wrong, but would not admit it. I will bad mouth Sloan every change I get.

In order to go into INACESSIBLE areas during an INSPECTION, they cannot do this without written consent. I asked for ONLY an inspection. They had no right to tear off siding.

I used Sloans years ago, when the senior was the inspector. I am a real estate broker. The son evidently took over the company. He is a liar and rude. I agree with the last review. I was selling my condo in Santa Paula. I asked for a termite INSPECTION. Instead, his workers tore off a lot of siding in the front of the unit (wood), leaving the pink insulation exposed.

I tallked to Sloan and HAD NOT GIVEN WRITTEN PERMISSION TO TEAR OFF SIDING or go into the INACCESSIBLE AREAS. They did it anyway. Sloan said they had to do it, etc., etc., I said I did not authorize them tearing off the siding. The upshot was the city came by and saw all the damage. I wound up have to place CANTILEVERED BEAMS in the upstairs which required tearing up the floors of the two bedrooms upstairs.

Because there was a small porch on the front (about two feet wide) the city insisted that all this extra work be done because someone might have fallen through the little porch. I wrote to the state and they wouldn't do anything. This whole mess cost me $12,000, and I will forever hate and bad mouth the young Sloan. He is incompetent and dishonest.

It is my understanding that termite inspectors cannot go into "inaccessible areas" without written permission. I never gave them permission to tear off siding. Sloans workmen just started tearing everything up. I guess that's how he gets his business to do the work by tearing up your property. I should have SUED the little crook.

These guys were professional, prompt and very efficient. They arrived early and without wasting any time tented my home, opened needed doors and windows and fumigated. I have a tile roof, they took a lot of care not to damage any. I am very happy with their work and will definitely use and recommend them in the future.

I cant say enough bad things about the owner. I had had 2 other inspections on my property in the last 4 months. Why.did I have 2 other inspections? Because I was selling and I wanted to fix anything that came up ahead of time. Both inspections came back clean. One I paid for and one was free. Nothing to fix. Then the buyer's realtor insisted I use Sloan's.

I thought nothing of it because my other findings were clean. The owner himself came out.he made stuff up on the report, quoting me that it'll cost $2200 to fix. He purposely put items on the report that I would have had to go into the dirty crawl space to see. He did this thinking I would not go down there. I did anyway. He hammered and hawed because there was nothing to find.

Then insisted it was termites even though it wasn't. I hate it when people try to make me look stupid. I'm not. I went back to the realtor and buyer and showed them the 2 other clean reports. I did not have to pay for the supposed fixes Sloan's quoted. Honestly, he's a douchebag. The owner was rude and a liar. I spoke to 2 realtor friends and they said that most realtors recommend this guy.

Maybe they get a cut. I don't know why. So, seller of a house beware! Please insist that you use a different termite inspector. I don't know why the realtors use this guy.as I have proof from 2 other inspectors, that I picked out of the phone book, that there was nothing to fix. I was told by my realtor friends that the 2 I picked out of the phone book were known to be good as well. Please don't use this guy!
